Sources: Mauricio Pochettino 'keen' on West Ham job

Mauricio Pochettino would be “keen” on taking over from David Moyes at West Ham, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers board are aware that Pochettino is available and interested in the job at the London Staidum should the club part ways with Moyes.

The Scot, 59, is under increasing pressure as his side sit 18th in the Premier League and are facing the threat of relegation if things do not turn around.

Football Insider understands that the West Ham board are aware of Pochettino’s availability and he is said to be interested in taking the job.

The Argentinian has been out of management since leaving Paris Saint-Germain in the summer and has experience in the Premier League, most recently with Tottenham where he guided them to the Champions League final in 2019.

According to The Times (20 February), the Scotsman could be out of a job as early as the weekend if his side lose to Nottingham Forest on Saturday (25 February).

The Hammers have won just three games in 2023, only one of which was a league victory over Frank Lampard’s Everton who has since been relieved of his duties at Goodison Park.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that the Irons have reached out to Rafael Benitez as a potential replacement for Moyes should the job become available.

West Ham sources made clear on Tuesday that there will be no managerial change before the weekend.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle United boss is believed to be keen on a return to the Premier League after a torrid spell with Everton last season.
